Ordinary Transformation

Aside from my work as a copywriter, marketer and publicist for business and the arts, I also write creatively and sing in a choir. This page is dedicated to my personal projects, to provide them with an online home where I can easily share with those who are interested.

Ordinary Transformation for Midlife

As a post-menopausal woman I spent years feeling invisible, too busy giving to everyone else to realise my own dreams and never taking the time for my health and wellness.

In July 2021 I started a midlife transformation that has seen me lose around 25 kgs in weight, discover the benefits of sobriety and begin to honour the dreams of my childhood. I call this an ordinary transformation because there is nothing extraordinary in my story - I am every woman who has struggled with weight gain and menopause, midlife direction and wasted potential. I am no longer invisible and it is my desire to inspire other midlife women to learn how to honour themselves, to be more visible and to find the truth in the ordinary.

I run a Facebook Group titled Ordinary Transformation for Midlife. It is a community of women who share their stories, inspirations and advice with each other. All midlife women are welcome to join.

Resources

The tools that I have used in my own transformation include:

NOOM

MEL ROBBINS

TRY DRY

DEEPAK CHOPRA

and my own little habit tracker - pictured on the right

I couldn't find a habit tracker that did everything I wanted it to do. I wanted to be able to track daily habits, weekly habits and monthly habits all at once. I wanted it to be easy to personalise because sometimes my focus changes month to month.

My daily habits may include meditation, exercise, healthy eating, gratitude journaling.

My weekly habits may include chatting to a friend, attending a yoga class, eating dinner as a family or doing some creative writing.

My monthly habits may include date night, trying a new recipe, gardening or decluttering or even business networking.

I simply tick the spot (or the quarter spot) every night before I go to bed and each month I assess what my focus will be for the month ahead - that way I can see what's working, what's not and adjust accordingly.

If you would like your own copy of my habit tracker, simply email me at wordsandideas@lianemorris.com.au and I'll be happy to send you a word document with 2 per page - easy to print out.
